North Trade expands in Scandinavia

Press Release, Stockholm

Scandinavia’s leading importer of meat products, North Trade, is acquiring the operations in the Swedish company Pegrom AB and the Finnish company OY Suomen Farmi Liha AB. “The acquisition of the two companies means our turnover will approach 110 million EUR” says North Trade’s CEO Johan Hållbus.

North Trade is Scandinavia’s leading importer of meat products and Pegrom and Farmi Liha mainly import meat products from EU countries, where North Trade will now achieve an even stronger position.

“The good business relations in Pegrom, the well-developed platform of sub-suppliers, and the large potential in the Finnish operations, including the effects of rationalisation on logistics and other expenses, will create the prerequisites to further strengthen our competitiveness on the market,” says Johan Hållbus.

Pegrom and Farmi Liha have a total of fifteen employees and a turnover of 30 million EUR. The operations in both companies will be integrated with North Trade in the spring, starting at the year end. The majority of their employees will be offered the opportunity to stay on in conjunction with the take-over.

“Pegrom’s and Farmi Liha’s present customers will be offered a wider range of products on the same competitive terms,” says Johan Hållbus, “while at the same time we expect North Trade’s present customers to experience an improvement in the range of European meat products”.

The previous owner, Gustaf Kugelberg, believes the operations in Pegrom and Farmi Liha will undergo a positive development.

“North Trade has a very strong position on an expanding market. Having a strong financial owner behind you, with a previously demonstrated ability to actively develop companies, creates the prerequisites for an exciting development.”
