Procuritas divests Netcontrol to ABB

Procuritas Capital Investors VI (“Procuritas”) has signed an agreement to divest Netcontrol, a specialist in grid automation solutions for energy distribution systems, to ABB, a global technology leader in electrification and automation. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.

Netcontrol, headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, is a leading provider of advanced solutions for the control and monitoring of electricity distribution networks. The company serves hundreds of customers across the Nordics, the UK and the Baltics, offering SCADA and ADMS systems, substation automation, RTUs and related engineering, commissioning and SaaS services.

During Procuritas’ ownership, Netcontrol has strengthened its market position through continued technology investment, coupled with further development and expansion of its product and service offering and build-up of a highly skilled organisation.

Commenting on the transaction, Johan Conradsson, Co-Managing Partner at Procuritas, said: “We would like to express our sincere appreciation to Netcontrol’s employees for their strong commitment, expertise and dedication. The team has built a company with unique capabilities in grid automation, combining deep domain knowledge with robust technology and a strong customer focus. These qualities have been fundamental to Netcontrol’s success and have positioned the company well for its next phase of development.”

“Netcontrol has strong fundamentals, a differentiated technology offering and long-standing customer relationships. We believe ABB is the right long-term owner to support the company’s continued growth and to further scale its solutions globally as part of ABB’s Distribution Solutions division.”

Sami Kurunsaari, CEO of Netcontrol, said: “Joining ABB marks an exciting next stage in Netcontrol’s journey. Our customers rely on us for secure, reliable electrical grid automation solutions and close technical collaboration. Becoming part of ABB will give us the global scale, portfolio and reach to bring our technology and expertise to many more utilities and industrial customers, while continuing to invest in the products and services our existing customers know and trust.” Procuritas is proud to have supported Netcontrol’s development and wishes the management team and employees continued success as part of ABB.
