Procuritas’s recently-merged Medtanken platform adds specialist care clinic Citysjukhuset in further expansion

Procuritas Capital Investors VI (“Procuritas”), the private equity investor focused on investing in and growing Nordic mid-market companies, today announces that its portfolio company Medtanken, a leading primary care group in Western Sweden, has successfully made its first step into the specialist care sector by acquiring Citysjukhuset, a strong player within the Västra Götaland Region.

With its passion for building strong sustainable businesses through transformational growth, Procuritas is facilitating accelerated development and multi-regional and digital expansion of the group. Today’s expansion follows last month’s news of Medtanken’s first bolt-on growth acquisition of Kvarterskliniken.

Medtanken has a vision of delivering and enhancing quality primary care provision in Sweden and today it also announces the successful launch of a new app offering a digi-physical care solution to increase accessibility and patient satisfaction.

The group’s expansion into specialist care that comes through the acquisition of Citysjukhuset is a natural step for Medtanken as it pursues its aim to improve the healthcare experience for patients by acting as a helping hand throughout the care chain.

Importantly, the addition of Citysjukhuset’s specialist care clinic and primary care clinic will further strengthen Medtanken’s local presence in the Västra Götaland Region and support the development of the group’s customer care offering. Following today’s acquisition, the Medtanken group will offer 19 primary care clinics, one specialist care clinic, over 110,000 listed patients and turnover of c. €69 million/700 MSEK.

“We are delighted to announce a second add-on acquisition for Medtanken as we expand its clinical customer care offering and geographical foot-print. This comes quickly after our first expansive deal last month and Medtanken’s move today into specialist care is a natural step in the group’s journey towards becoming a leading player within the Swedish healthcare market.” says Oskar Lindholm-Wu, Partner, Procuritas.

“With its focus on high quality and care for its patients, Citysjukhuset is a perfect fit for the group, as well as further strengthening our local presence in the Västra Götaland Region. The addition of specialist care, together with our recent successful launch of the Medtanken app, further enhances our customer care offering.” says Hans Wittrup, CBDO, Medtanken.

The transaction, which is subject to approval from the Västra Götaland Region, is expected to close in July.
